The planners of the June 19 IGB dedication knew they wanted something more creative than the standard red-ribbon cutting that typically accompanies events like this. They turned to the Lab’s creative director Cait Youngquist — along with some future scientists — for help. And they delivered.

With the snip of a DNA-shaped ribbon, the Integrative Genomics Building was officially dedicated at a special event on June 19. The DOE’s Sharlene Weatherwax and Marcus Jones gave remarks, and Senator Dianne Feinstein and Congresswoman Barbara Lee spoke via video. Move-in is planned for the fall.

June 28 Deadline for 2019 ImageXD Conference Abstracts
ImageXD, a three-day conference to discuss common problems in image processing, will be held at UC Berkeley in September. The conference will approach the intrinsic computer vision and image processing problems as one community.
