Celebrate the Past: Security and Emergency Services
Badges have always been a part of the Lab’s culture, going back to its earliest days when Ernest O. Lawrence needed to show his badge during World War II when entering the Lab. See how the Lab’s gates have changed over the years and how the Lab continues to prepare for emergencies. https://photostories.lbl.gov/celebrate-the-past-security-emergency-services?source=share-berkeleylab
Red Flag at Lab Firehouse
A new red flag will fly on the Lab’s firehouse flagpole when the National Weather Service issues a red flag warning. The Lab also has fire danger indicators at the Lab’s three gates. Stay aware since the Lab is in a wildland area, including knowing the location of SAFE buildings. https://site-security.lbl.gov/resource/emergency-management-resources/safe-buildings/

New Self-Service Building Access System Debuts
If you need to add permission to access a new area of the Lab, there is a new badge management system that allows badge-holders to accomplish this online. This is one step in a multi-step plan to improve security and safety at the Lab under development by the Security & Emergency Services Division. https://site-security.lbl.gov/service/badging-building-access/building-access/
