Responsible Tracking and Return of Telework Equipment
All Lab-purchased equipment and property must be returned when an employee leaves the Lab. Assets must be properly accounted for and returned, regardless of whether the asset is tagged or not. Update Google Chrome Immediately
In October, Google confirmed a serious Chrome security issue that requires immediate attention. Ensure Chrome is up to date by launching Chrome, selecting help, and then selecting “About Chrome”. Upgrades Coming to Google Chat
Beginning next week, the Lab will transition to Google Chat from the legacy Hangouts Chat platform. The new Google Chat helps teams stay in sync with virtual rooms that combine chat, documents, and tasks. Windows 7 Blocked Starting July 1
Microsoft no longer supports or provides security updates for Windows 7. In order to protect the Lab, all Windows 7 computers without an exception request will be blocked beginning July 1. Visit the IT Division website to learn more. https://go.lbl.gov/win7eol
UC-Springer Agreement on Nature and Elsevier Journals
UC has negotiated a first-of-its-kind open-access agreement with Springer Nature covering the ten UC campuses. The new agreement does not apply to the Lab at this time, but efforts are under way to evaluate and potentially migrate to it in the future.
