Kunhwi Kim and Sean Nord Win Lab Tennis Tournament
Sixteen battled but only two emerged as winners of the Lab Tennis Club’s annual tournament on Sept. 10: Kunhwi Kim (EESA) and Sean Nord (ALS). Sandrine Chobert and Alec Donahue (ALS) came in second place. The club organizes matches during the lunch hour most weekdays. Email ctoth@lbl.gov to join.
SLAM Off-site Viewing Parties at Potter Street and JGI
The SLAM pitch contest for postdocs and early career researchers will be streamed to Potter Street (977-141), JGI (100-149C), and JBEI 978-4132). Employees Help Raise Lab Awareness at Solano Stroll
Last Sunday, more than 25 employees volunteered at Berkeley Lab’s booth at the Solano Stroll, the largest street festival in the East Bay. Hundreds of visitors stopped by the booth to learn about the Lab and interact with hands on activities.
Judges Announced for Sept. 19 SLAM
Twelve SLAM finalists will take to the Building 50 Auditorium stage Thursday, Sept. 19, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. for the 2019 Lab SLAM competition. Each gets three minutes to share their science work for cash prizes of over $5000.
