Designs for Bring a Kid to Work T-Shirt Contest Due Feb. 14
Bring Your Kid to Work Day is on April 17 this year, with registration starting on March 16. Participants and volunteers receive T-shirts as part of the event, and this year Lab employees are invited to submit designs for the T-shirt. Deadline is Feb. 14. Lab Hosts Blood Drive on Feb. 13
Staff can donate blood on Thursday, Feb. 13, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the cafeteria parking lot. Click to schedule an appointment (code is “LBL”). Walk-ins are welcome if space allows. Inspiring STEM Careers in the Everglades
In 2018, JGI embarked on a pilot project with biology students from Boca Raton Community High School in Florida to apply the latest molecular techniques to learn more about the microbial communities in the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. Female Engineering Academy Students Visit the Lab
Berkeley Lab recently hosted 90 young women from Pinole Valley and Richmond High School Engineering Academies to learn about careers in STEM. Lab Hosts Nuclear Science Day for Scouts on March 21
The Lab is hosting its annual Nuclear Science Day for Scouts on March 21. The event brings local Boy and Girl Scout troops onsite for tours and demos. High School Contest Caps Periodic Table Anniversary
To conclude the end of 2019’s International Year of the Periodic Table, Berkeley Lab hosted a contest for local high school students in which they described their favorite element using words, images, or video. Women Scientists Sought for Outreach Event
The Lab will host 90 young women from the Engineering Academies at Pinole and Richmond high schools on Thursday, Jan. 30. Women scientists and engineers at the Lab are invited to take part in a lunch session and short tours for the students.
