Wildfire. Earthquake. Illness. Each of these is a possibility at the Lab at any time. Know what to do in an emergency by reviewing the Lab’s Emergency Guide. It provides detailed instructions on calling for help, emergency medical treatment until help arrives, chemical spills, and wildlife threats. https://site-security.lbl.gov/resource/emergency-management-resources/emergency-guide/

Personnel Accountability Drill on Oct. 8
On Thursday, Oct. 8, all Lab employees, affiliates, and contractors will receive a notification from the emergency LabAlert system. The message will request a response that includes your status and whereabouts. You only need to respond once, but it is critical that you do so, even if teleworking. https://site-security.lbl.gov/2020/09/25/personnel-accountability-drill-october-8/
Teleworking Safety Tip
Telework presents unique ergonomic challenges. Don’t ignore your discomfort. Get an ergo evaluation and make changes to your set-up. In August, four employees reported neck, shoulder, or wrist discomfort and got help. Contact a Lab ergo advocate at ergo@lbl.gov or call 510-486-6848. https://ergo.lbl.gov/

Use Extra Care With Electricity At Home and At Work
Take extra care around electrical wires, whether at home or at work. In July, a subcontractor at the Lab received an electrical shock when their left wrist contacted a live wire. Medical staff examined the worker and cleared them to return to work. View the EHS Safety Report. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cXSjPKaiClkm1MvF38t3JGq5mMv0Yb2W/view
