Eva Nogales of the Biosciences Area has been named a 2020 Fellow of the Biophysics Society. Carl Steefel of the Earth & Environmental Sciences Area has been named by the American Geophysical Union (AGU) as a 2019 AGU Fellow. Doug Burkhardt (Facilities) has been appointed as the new Berkeley Lab delegate for the Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA). He will join current Lab delegate Asmita Patel (ATAP). JBEI’s Jay Keasling was featured on NHK World’s program “Direct Talk.” Keasling discussed the positive impact synthetic biology can have in people’s lives as well as its safety concerns.
