UC Staff Advisors to the Regents Ann Jeffrey and Lucy Tseng virtually visited the Lab last week to learn more about Berkeley Lab, its staff, and its research as part of their UC locations tour. Department of Energy, visited Berkeley Lab to tour the Integrative Genomics Building, the detector labs, the Charter Hill site, and the future home of the Advanced Quantum Testbed. At a Lab visit on Oct. 13 and 14, Office of Science Director Chris Fall (left) was briefed on the Bayview Campus and Charter Hill, the Lab’s contributions to the National Virtual Biotechnology Laboratory, and ATLAS, DESI, and CMB-S4 detectors. The President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) visited the Lab on Jan. 16 for discussions on deepening federal laboratories’ engagement in the U.S. R&D enterprise. PCAST members provide policy recommendations on strengthening U.S. leadership in science and technology.
U.S. Representative Garret Graves (Louisiana’s 6th District) visited the Lab on Dec. 7. He met with Director Witherell and toured the ALS and Foundry. Graves (right) is the ranking member of the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis and serves on the House Natural Resources Committee.
California Energy Commissioner Patty Monahan visited the Lab on Dec. 6 to discuss transportation modeling, emissions, and EV charging. She fills the Commission’s science/engineering position, is lead transportation commissioner, and used to work in the Lab’s International Energy Studies Program. https://www.energy.ca.gov/about
