Windows 7 Updates to End; Upgrade Now
On Jan. 14, 2020, Microsoft will stop releasing updates and critical security patches for Windows 7, which means these systems cannot be secured, putting personal and Lab data at risk. New East Bay Area Code, Dialing Requirements to Begin
Starting Saturday, June 22, area code 341 will be added to the 510 area code region. As a result, all calls made to the 510 and 341 area codes must include 1 + area code + 7-digit number. Staff should update any pre-programmed phone numbers. Patch Windows Computers Immediately Due to Critical Remote Desktop Vulnerability
Due to a very dangerous vulnerability in Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, IT requests that Lab computer and network users install a patch immediately on Windows computers and reboot. Financial Management System Maintenance Shutdown Starts Noon Friday
The Lab’s Financial Management System will be down from noon on Friday, April 12, until noon on Sunday, April 14, for maintenance. This is part of the standard process to provide bug fixes and it will not change the functionality of the system. http://fms-knowledge.lbl.gov/
Update Chrome Browser Now
In early March Google confirmed a serious Chrome security issue. Lab users should verify they are running at least version 72.3.3626.121 and if not, immediately update Chrome by restarting it.
